To measure, score, and certify a home's energy efficiency.

HERS Rating Process

• Plan Submission
  Construction plans are submitted.

• Initial Review & Clarifications
  The HERS Rater evaluates the plans and requests any necessary clarifications.

• Energy Modeling
  Once the information is received, the Rater completes an energy model of the home.

• Preliminary HERS Rating
  A projected HERS score is generated.

• Documentation for Permitting
  The finalized report and compliance documentation are provided for submission to the building department.

• Prior to drywall installation, field rating inspection is done to ensure insulation quality.

• Field Verification (Post-Construction)

            After construction, the HERS Rater performs on-site testing                        (including blower door and duct testing) to confirm the home meets the modeled performance.            

• Final HERS Certificate Issued
  Once verified, the official HERS rating is issued.
